The Adilabad railway station in Telangana is situated on the Mudkhed-Adilabad section of Hyderabad (HYB) Division of South Central Railway (SCR). However, after year 2003, it came under Nanded (NED) Division of SCR with the bifurcation of Hyderabad Division.

Towns such as Vijayawada, Nagpur, Allahabad, Tirupati, Nizamabad, Nellore, Hyderabad,Varanasi, Nanded and Patna are well connected by road to Adilabad. Trains from Hyderabad, Mancheral and Kagaz Nagar connect Adilabad with many towns and cities.

How to reach Adilabad

You can take a bus or a train to Adilabad. Even private taxis ply to nearby towns and cities. Roads are quite good, so you will not have a bumpy ride but only buses coming from Hyderabad or Mumbai are deluxe buses.

Since Maharashtra is a neighbouring state, places such as Nasik, Sholapur, Mumbai and Nagpur are well connected by trains. Though Nagpur is nearby, tourists travel via Hyderabad to reach Adilabad.

Road Transport in Adilabad

National Highway 7 which is now NH 44 (the largest NH in India), passes through Adilabad.  NH 16 (Nizamabad to Jagdalpur) passes through Mancherial, a commercial town near Adilabad.This has made commuting as well as transportation of goods very easy. Highway Patrolling Outposts (HOPS) check the speeding vehicles and errant drivers on the highways.

The high-level bridge across river Godavari near Gudem on on Adilabad side and Rayapatnam on Karimnagar side is under construction. It is supposed to bring much awaited relief to commuters including for heavy vehicles. The construction of this bridge will be completed by December 2014.

There is heavy flow of traffic between Karimnagar and Adilabad due to economic ties and heavy vehicles going to Vijaywada and neighbouring places go via this route. Also, the rush to Gudem temple and Dharmapuri temple near Karimnagar brings huge rush of devotees. This bridge will also serve to avoid flooding due to its height. 

Commercial transport of goods and other produce takes place through private trucks as well as by railway wagons.
